About the Seminoe Power Project
The Seminoe Power Project will provide approximately 3,000 MW of natural gas-fired generation. Together with the CCSM Project, the Seminoe Project will provide a firm, reliable electric power supply at a size and scale that growing domestic electricity markets demand. The project consists of two sites: the Seminoe Generating Station and the Walcott Generating Station. Active development and permitting is underway; completed work includes engineering studies, environmental studies and air quality modeling. PCW also is actively exploring the potential for on-site carbon capture and storage; the plant will be hydrogen-capable and carbon-capture-ready.
The Seminoe Power Project is ideally located to efficiently access Wyoming’s low-cost, abundant natural gas supply. A major natural gas pipeline corridor adjoins the sites, providing access to high-capacity natural gas resources. The generation sites are on private land sections located south and east of the Town of Sinclair, and they are co-located with existing and under-construction power infrastructure, Interstate 80 and the main UP railroad line.
PCW and its engineers are working to finalize the project configuration. The Seminoe Project will offer high thermal efficiency in converting natural gas into electricity and will deploy turbines designed for fuel efficiency, operational flexibility and reduced emissions.
Like the CCSM Project, the Seminoe Power Project will provide significant and positive financial benefits to Carbon County, to Wyoming and to the nation. For example, it will pay industrial-rate property taxes and sales/use taxes during construction and operation, providing new revenues for state, county and local government services to citizens. It will create more good construction jobs, domestic manufacturing jobs, and operations jobs in the electric power industry sector. More detailed information will be available when permit applications are filed with authorizing agencies.
